National Western Stock Show: Resource for Denver Equestrians

The 2014 National Western Stock Show is lining up to provide excellent resources for all types of Denver equestrians, including students who desire scholarships. Held at the National Western Complex located in downtown Denver, the annual show begins Saturday, January 11, 2014 and continues through Sunday, January 26, 2014. This will be the 108th year for the premier event. It is a rich chapter in Colorado’s history.

The National Western Stock Show hosts one of the world’s richest regular-season professional rodeos and largest horse show. Hundreds of thousands of folks from Denver horse properties and the surrounding communities and states come out every year. They participate in the well-organized and highly respected event, its exhibits, the tradeshow, performances, ticketed events and much more.

At the show, equestrians and up-and-coming 4-H members discover the breadth and possibilities of activities involving horses. The tradeshow includes over 350 vendors, including many offering agricultural products and equipment. Over 15,000 animals participate. Small children get a taste of life as cowboys and cowgirls that often develops into a yearning for Dad and Mom to purchase Denver horse properties or Colorado ranches along the Front Range.

Almost 50 performances are held in the Stadium Arena, Denver Coliseum, and National Western Events Center. The RAM Invitational Freestyle Reining and Grand Prix show jumping competitions are sure to wow the little ones. Then, there will be the Mexican Rodeo Extravaganza, Pro Rodeos, an African-American Heritage rodeo, and the National Western Wild West Show. It does not stop there. Imagine “An Evening of Dancing Horses” and the Draft Horse and Mule shows.

The National Western Stock Show is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization. The organization serves producers and consumers around the world by offering a center for year-round events including the premier Stock Show, Rodeo, and Horse Show.

The organization also offers 74 college- and graduate-level scholarships for students interested in studying agriculture or medicine for practice in rural areas. To be eligible for scholarships, students must participate in the National Western Stock Show in January.
