Conifer
Mountain Jewel: Conifer Horse Real Estate
By Coloradohorseproperty.com

Midst the stunning, mountainous beauty of Pike National Forest, the subtle sparkle of Conifer, Colorado real estate beckons.  If you and your horses appreciate down-to-earth, caring neighbors as well as frolicking rabbits, birds, foxes, elk and deer, consider a horse property in Conifer at 8,350 feet just 15 miles southwest of Denver real estate.

Conifer homes for sale with horse amenities—ranging from old mountain cabins to the ultra-modern—peek from behind expanses of blue spruce, pine, fir and aspen trees.  And horse property here in Jefferson County regularly displays blankets of splendid wildflowers!  Whether you find a modest 3/2 on 10 acres or a Conifer estate on 64 acres, you will have plenty of room for a neighbor's horses in the arena, barn or stalls that await your packhorses.  But you may also fancy the freedom to design your own special horse ranch on real estate in Conifer.

Touted as the “ideal place to live," Conifer is far enough from the big city to feel like a true mountain community, but still close enough for visitors to enjoy all that Denver has to offer.  Ordinarily, you don’t have to go far to find activity.  The local Stage Door Theater and numerous parks like Oehlmann are close at hand.

And you can experience the town hospitality at a summer Conifair, the premier C-285 mountain festival presented by the Conifer Area Chamber of Commerce.  Folks from the mountain communities of Conifer, Pine, Bailey, Morrison and Evergreen as well as plenty of visitors from the Denver areas come together at Beaver Ranch for a weekend of fun, games, crafts, art, food, live music and stellar entertainment for the whole family.

The rural character, traditionally made up of mom-and-pop businesses, unique shops, eateries, bed and breakfasts and the like, has changed a wee bit with the addition of a few chain stores.  And yet it is an E-Z commute over to the metropolitan area with its employment options, museums, cultural events, horse and sporting events, educational opportunities, mega-mall shopping, active populace and the international airport.

Just where else can folks cheer at each fresh snow and zoom over the hill to a world-renowned, Rocky Mountain ski resort?  Where else can you ride off your pasture into the grandeur of multiple national parks?  And where else do civil servants seek out community input on growth, zoning and recreational issues?

The hills once occupied by Arapaho, Ute and Cheyenne hunters and European merchants, trappers, ranchers and miners are now speckled with homes.  Roads built into the foothills in the late 1800s opened the town and surrounding areas to the adventurous and wealth seekers.  About five miles outside town, the historic Reynolds Park is a memorial to the pioneer era and numerous rolling and rugged trails originate near the Park.

In the 1860s the town was called Bradford Junction, a stop on the stagecoach road to South Park.  The community started right where Gill's Gulch flows into North Turkey Creek with a few buildings like a tavern, a rest house and a general store.  The name morphed to Conifer Junction and then in the 1930s the Junction was dropped.  Primarily a cattle ranching area for over a century, there is still some ranching in southern parts of the community.

Jeffco School District also hosts a new Conifer High School, a middle school and an elementary school in town and there is also a Montessori school.  For a webcam look from the top of the new high school, go to http://webcambiglook.com/conifer.html.
